Camelot Solutions – Time is Now!

July 17, 2011

When is the time to really go after what you want, to take charge of your life, and do the things you want and know you can do?  The answer is as soon as you can!  We have been in business for about 3 years and have completed our initial goals.  Now is the time that we will explode and be able to help many more people.  Tied into our mission and culture is to help one billion people.  With the right ideas and infrastructure we are pushing to aggressively pursue this goal.

We are looking to push this goal in to capacities.  The first is through continuing and expanding our business.  Through making other companies stronger through our consulting practices we are able to improve the lives of the employees, business owners, and the people they serve by providing the best product or services our clients can.

In addition, we will be looking to expand a grass roots movement to come up with ways to bring drastic improvements to people.  No idea is out of contention, since you never know where the next great ideas will come from and develop.  We take on everyday with the idea that we will help as many people as we can in that day, so if it’s something that helps one person or a hundred thousand as long as we move towards that we are successful.

Have ideas or want to be part of the grassroots movement, then send an e-mail to camelotsolutions@camelotsolutions.com with the title Grass Roots!

Have a great day and make everyday better than the next!

Best Methodology to Improve a Companies Bottom Line

July 24, 2010

Working with various companies and organizations one soon realizes that there are infinite ways to run a company, department, people, and individual jobs. Each has a different focus on Quality, Waste, Variation, Customer Service, Employee Satisfaction and the list goes on.

What are your thoughts on what the best methods are for companies in various stages of maturity.

- 1: Have no standard methodology in place
- 2: Started to utilize a methodology OR have implemented in limited capacity in the organization
- 3: Made improvements using one or more methodologies, and still advancing it’s methods.
- 4: Have fully implemented at least one methodology through the entire organization
- 5: Company currently uses several methodologies throughout the company at various levels. (PMO, Lean, Six Sigma, TOC, TQM, PRINCE II, ITIL, CoBIT, XP, SCRUM, RAD, SPIRAL…)

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)

August 6, 2009

Today while at my desk an e-mail chain came into my inbox.  Yet another communication that claims that if you torment enough of your friends then something good will happen to you.  These days with the unemployment rate continuing to increase, faltering economy, and endless indicators on the daily news reminding us how depressing things are, it’s no wonder that people are doing whatever they can for a little good luck.

Don’t get me wrong there are many touching, humorous, and great e-mails that need to be shared with friends, families, and colleagues.   But this should be done for the right reason and not because of a hope for a quick windfall, gifts, love, or friendship.

So instead of the instant delete that many of these e-mail receive once they cross into the inbox, I decided to try something.  Quickly the text related to the following was cut; the heading, “testimonies”, and the text stating you will receive millions of dollars if you forward to everyone in your mailbox. Soon the simple message remained and included a message that all you need to do is do one simple Random Act of Kindness [RAK] to one person that you normally might not have done previously.  This could be anything, see how your life can change by trying this.

Then what would be better than to see how these RAK impact people?  So this post has been created in order to start documenting how people can help each other.

So please feel free to leave a comment about RAK that you have done, RAK that have been done to you, or any comment relating to this topic.

Look forward from hearing from you all and remember you are not limited to just one RAK!

Developing a Positive Self-image

July 17, 2009

Here is an article that I dug out from about 4 years ago, but can always be useful.

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to be born leaders? They posses certain qualities that make others want to follow them. Born leaders possess many admirable characteristics, but one of the most crucial to their success is a positive self-image.

People who project a positive self-image are self-confident, responsible, and motivated. These characteristics produce a positive self-image and allow a leader to effect a positive influence on people. To develop self-confidence then, you must focus on improving in these three areas.

Self-confidence

Self-confidence is an attitude of certainty founded on a person’s knowledge, experience, abilities and skills.

To build confidence, you must learn what you need to know to be proficient at your job. If you lack knowledge in a job-related discipline, dedicating yourself to mastering that subject will increase your confidence.

Experience is another confidence booster. Look for opportunities that will enable you to put into practice the knowledge and skills required of your position or the position you are aspiring after.

In essence, you can bolster your self-confidence by recognizing and building on your strengths while working to overcome your weaknesses.

Responsibility

The second component of positive self-image is responsibility, or being responsible. At work, that means doing your job to the best of your ability even when your work is not being scrutinized by a superior.

Employees who work hard even when they are not supervised earn the respect of their peers and become the most likely candidates for career advancement.

Make it a personal goal to see what needs to be done and do it or delegate it appropriately. If you are doing the work yourself, go the extra mile to see that the work exceeds expectations. Try to complete mundane tasks with as much energy and concentration as you do the more challenging and interesting assignments.

Learning how to stay motivated

To develop a positive self-image, you also need to learn how to stay motivated. To maintain your momentum and commitment, you get in the habit of setting goals and timelines for reaching them. Another way to stay motivated is to recall the benefits of attaining a goal during periods when your motivation is waning.

When you develop a positive self-image, you achieve two positive results. First, you begin to feel better about yourself. When you are confident, responsible and motivated, you are less anxious because you are more self-possessed and “in control.” This leads to a change in how others perceive you—the second positive result of projecting a positive self-image.

People who project a positive self-image inspire confidence, responsibility and motivation in others. In this way, you can have a positive influence on your peers and superiors. By projecting a positive self-image, you can inspire others to pursue their goals even when you don’t have any real authority over them.
